Is it safe to have treatment abroad?
It depends far more on the clinic than on the country — which is why we check clinics rather than rank destinations. Every clinic here is checked against the official medical register in its own country, and we publish exactly what we found, including when we found nothing. How much can I really save?
For major procedures the gap is large. A hip replacement that costs around £16,135 privately in the UK starts from ≈ £4,300 at clinics listed here, and dental or cosmetic work shows a similar pattern. Prices on this site are indicative, research-sourced ranges — the exact price always comes from the clinic, in writing, before you commit to anything.
How is Thera Compare free to use?
Clinics pay us an introduction fee when a patient we introduce goes ahead. You never pay us anything, prices are never marked up for coming through Thera Compare, and register-check results are never for sale — a clinic cannot pay to change what the register says about it.
What about aftercare once I'm back in the UK?
Ask three questions before you book anywhere: what follow-up is included, how complications are handled, and who you speak to once you are home. A good clinic answers all three in writing. In an emergency the NHS will always treat you, but routine follow-up or revision of private surgery done abroad may not be covered — build that into your comparison, not just the headline price.
Are the prices on this site real quotes?
No — they are indicative ranges from published tariffs, clinic listings and our own research, shown so you know what normal looks like before anyone quotes you. When you request quotes, clinics reply with exact prices for your case — and if a quote is far outside the range shown here, that is worth asking about.
